Fan fiction

Fan fiction, like Acceptance shown on the left, is Star Wars fiction written by fans for fans. The stories take place in the legendary galaxy far, far away, but none of it is official canon. Fan fiction is done for fun and can sometimes be a community effort. Entire websites and organizations devoted to fan fiction exist, making it a social exercise shared by thousands if not millions of fans of both Star Wars and other franchises and genres.

Fan websites

Fan websites, like Wookieepedia on the left, are fan-operated websites whose topic revolves around Star Wars. Fan websites take on various different forms. There are wikis, such as Wookieepedia, Star Wars Fanon, and Star Wars Fanpedia itself. There are role-playing websites, such as The Gungan Council, Star Wars Combine, and TheStarWarsRP.Com. Other websites are purely message boards, such as TheForce.Net's Jedi Council Boards. All of these websites and many more offer Star Wars fans a place to interact with one another in a social, online community.

Fan films

Fan films, like the award winning Star Wars: Revelations on the left, are non-profit Star Wars films created by fans for fans. The films are set in the Star Wars universe, but they are not considered official canon. Despite that, Lucasfilm hosts the annual Official Star Wars Fan Film Awards to showcase the best fan films in the Star Wars fan community. Some fan films, such as George Lucas in Love, are not set within the franchise but still relate to it.

Fan organizations

Fan organizations, like the 501st Legion on the left, are groups of Star Wars fans who share a common interest and, sometimes, participate in group activities outside of the Internet. Some of these organizations are gaming guilds, such as The Galactic Empire: An Empire Reborn, while others, such as the 501st Legion, are charity and costuming organizations. All of these groups and more afford Star Wars fans the chance to interact with one another, often face to face, while sharing their common passion for the galaxy far, far away.
